I had a nasty fall and cannot ride my horse a T/B whom has stopped D grade jumping, due to my fall. I put an ad asking for someone to ride him as he was pretty fit and did not want the sudden let down of him. I got some amazing replies and even had about 4 people come whom had assured me they had all of this knowledge but guess what they were full of !!!!! What should I do just leave him for the 6 mths that it is going to take me to be able to ride again or just get him lunged instead of ridden ?? It is hard because we have worked so hard to get him to a standard and I do not want to get him buggered up. And I do not want to lease him or sell him.

i had the same problem that you have. I fell of two years ago and nearly broke my back. I struggled for a year, i'd get out of the car shaking, i was that scared to ride him. he was a 16.2hh throughbred and iam only little. My girlfriend has been doing parlli for years and she said i should give it ago. I thought i had nothing to loose so i went and got the old level one pack. After completing level one my horse, he was a differnt horse. he looked forward to being ridden. i am now 8 months into it , half way through level two and i can ride him in a rope hackamore, iam am walk troting and cantering. I am also competing out in the show ring. I know how you feel, but turning out in the paddock is not going to solve your nerve problem.and being a t/b he will come back in fizzy. give natural horsemanship a go, you won't regret it.

Hi, if it was me in that position I would just turn him out, it is only for 6mths , and better that than have some ruin him on you. the only thing I would suggest if you decide to spell him is keep plenty of hay up to him as TBs are notoriously bad doers in the paddock, and lunge well before riding again after a long spell, good luck.

I think talking to an instructor is a very good Idea. They may even find someone to lease or half lease your horse for you. Or the instructor may need another lesson horse.

Yes, I think you should ask at a local barn---they should know of advanced (students) riders who can ride while you're recovering--also, some of the instructors at my barn ride other peoples horses to help out (gives them experience on another horse) Good Luck!

Just lunging him is a good idea. I have found luck with even asking aroound at local barns if anyone knows of someone who wouold like a horse to ride for a few months. I've been at barn where students use other peoples horse in their own lessons. It keeps the horse in shape and it also gives you peace of mind to know that they are under the suppervition of an instructor. Hope you find a resolution to your problem. I know its hard to find a capable person to ride and care for your fav thing. our horses!
