Hi, I have a grey arab/percheron gelding and he is a fantastic horse. He is 16'3 hands and weighs over 650kgs. His particular skill is dressage but he loves to jump and race around cross country courses. He is such a character and is dearly loved by all who know him. He has an unusual appetite and seems to have the opinion that anything I eat is good enough for him. He particulary likes to drink coca-cola which he is only allowed on rare occasions. He is the worse theaf I have ever come across, and my friends have learn't not to leave any sort of food within reaching distance. Recently a close friend of mine lost her hot dog to him. He was so quick we didn't think it was him at first, but the tomato sauce around his mouth gave him away. He hasn't learn't to hide the evidence of his crimes very well.
What I love about him the most is his kind, steady, willing nature and intellegence. He is a true friend, who has never let me down and who always tries even when the odds are stacked against him.
I say this because last year he slipped in a puddle of mud in the middle of the dressage competiton and fell down quite hard. Amazingly he picked himself up, remembered that we had been in a collected canter and kept going as though nothing had happened. He knew exactly what he was there to do and a bit of mud was not going to stop him putting on a show. (I however was totally useless and was struggling to remember where we were up to in the dressage test!) Needless to say he placed in that class and I was so proud of him.

Hi I ride a percheron X Canadain!! When I started her she had never been in an arena and only did hacking which was pretty much go where ever she wanted too lol. It's taken me a year to get her off her forhand enough that she doesn't trip anymore. I recently tried barrels with her just for a change from dressage. She doesn't quite understand why we have to trot around the barrel lol.

MY kids had an old percheron gelding[trojan ] when they were 7 & 9 years old and he was about 15. They won barrels on him, including opens against adults, also took him to pony club and won and placed in rider classes and hacks as well as jumping, and he was an awesome sporting horse and stock horse winning more than I can remember, all this with the most beautiful gentle nature you could possibly imagine. sadly gone now to horsey heaven , gone but never forgotten.

yes that has been my experience too, especially the t/bred x draft. I broke and trained a little perchy x stock horse (cow pony) a while back, she was awesome, put me off work for a couple of weeks when I decided to do a bit of cutting without the saddle. you might like to check out my coloureds (pics on profile) stallion is by a coloured stock horse out of a light delivery clydesdale x
