Hello, I am new to this site and saw your blog. I personally would like to say thank you for all of your comments. CB I have also wanted to seek/establish a horse program. There are alot of us horse people that know the healing power of horses. Have you read and looked at Wyatt / Its not about the horse? Great quick read. He runs a program in phoenix, or tucson at one of the hotel's. It sounds like you have alot of energy & universe knowledge of thinking from the end.Like yourself the insurance has made it so hard with the cost. I hope you continue to see it from the end and best of what the universe will give you. Thnak you for letting me read and be part of this blog.  Judy

thanks so much 4 the well wishes.. but the fate of the therapy ranch has been way above anything i would attempt 2 claim! the passionate, hopeless romantic in me has always been a firm believer in "what's meant to be will be"... i love this ranch and have enjoyed every second i've been blessed to even entertain the thought of the therapy ranch comin true.. i just continue preparin til i know otherwise. if it is sold, i'll know i was needed in some other capacity somewhere else.. no regrets or hard feelins. this ranch doesn't define who i am... it just compliments some of my stronger points. i draw my strength from the earth, and horses... that will never change whether i have this ranch or not. i can bow out gracefully knowin that i did my part of makin a dream come true. that bein said.. i better git. it's been a wonderful long day and i'm anxious to see what tomorrow holds. thanx again for the kind words and support, its much appreciated! hope your day is wonderful as well! (this picture was taken this mornin.. that's my "duck lab", starr)

story behind my name.. which one, cb? man, that's the most mundane thing about me!! my first husband had a sister w/ the same name, so at one time there were 2 chicks runnin around a small n.e. tx town w/ the same name... i got dubbed "cb".. i need to "texanize" that story... maybe it could stand 4 "chainsaw babe" since i have become one w/ the chainsaw!! i spilled it's oil and it spilled my blood.. now we are one!!
sorry.. its actually 20 somethin this mornin and my brain is a lil iced over.. if u ever wanna amuse urself, just come to texas when its icy!! the whole state shuts down!!
i appreciate all ur pertinent info, its been helpful.. at the moment, i'm tryin to beat some investor interested in the ranch.. i did a 13 month lease w/ 1st option 2 purchase.. but there was a clause in the contract stating the ranch could be sold b4 the lease term.. the owners are in a bind, they're in construction.. long story short (longer) my ranch was put w/ a group of their other properties for investors. but the ranch and it's fate are in His hands.. where its been since day one. i'm still goin 4ward as planned til its sold or i'm able 2 buy it first.. kinda like a good challenge!!
as far as furniture.. i'll see what pics i have archived, thanx 4 the interest!!

WOW. You have become one with a chainsaw. Now that is some feat. I had a chain saw save me from a swarm of ground bees once. I ended up with 27 bites, but the chainsaw kept running until it ran out of gas...it was covered with the rest of the bees all that time....

I think CB is an easy name to remember. Of course, Woodroe might change that for you as he likes to name his women. LOL.

Brrrrr. It sounds cold where you are. Been there, done that. I know I complain about the weather here, but today it was in the 60s and tommorrow the 70s. Meanwhile those up north of here are...well, you know.

I do hope you get that property. With the market the way it is you should have a good chance. The world could use more people like you!

Hello, CB! You do sound like a very busy lady! Ok, Fess up. Tells us the story behind your name...

I agree with what you say about the current state of liabilites and so on. I do expert consulting for the horse industry and now know all these laws and programs are the result, not from people like you, but from those who have caused damage to others as a result of not providing a safe enviroment for riders and horses.

The NARHA was one of the first programs (and is currently the largest) to address many of these issues and prepare those who want to dedicated their lives to this. Once you align with them you will have access to obtaining grants as a non-profit.

That was funny, roasting weiners and drinking. LOL.

Please share more photos of your farm and the wood furniture you are making!

hay star.. chick is fine, blue,etc... i actually go by "cb" in the "real world".. i know my profile says ny, and bein from texas.. there's a great texan story behind that, of course!! but.. i am still in texas (thanx for callin me out and blowin my cover!) o well, i think enough time has elapsed for the texan protection program!!
as far as insurance and all the legalities and politics that ruin a good program that is actually good for the heart and soul.. my intentions are to go in as a nonprofit org, and i will eventually get certified w/ NARHA.. i also want to utilize the ranch w other programs w/ the government.. it's soo overwhelmin when you start thinkin of all the possibilities!! i harvest (WAS, not currently) timber off the place, raise pigs "naturally", and plan on doin a small scale "green farm", i build cool rustic furniture, and would love to do the green energy conversion... so if anyone has connections w/ t boone pickens..!! well, star, (which is the name of one of my labs.. starr) i better git 4 now.. the whole star by ur name thing reminds me of dr. seuss' star bellied sneetches!! politics! have fun at the party.. hope y'all aren't roastin weinies n drinkin at the same time!!

LOl! Chick (may I call you Chick as your name is sooooo long) Something tells me you might get us into trouble at the blog party... We have been playing here these past weekends and do get a little wild...amazing how much trouble we can get into when no one really knows us.

Welcome to the Funny farm Crazy Horse!

Chick, As to your potential therapy program. Since you are in the nursing field you do have an idea of all the paperwork that will be involved. Every incident will need to be recorded and saved. The therapy horse must also go through an evaluation process as well as those who volunteer or work with you in the program. The biggest problem for most who do this seems to be the high cost of insurance. If you get certified from one of the national organizations there is often a discount involved. Plus, if you follow their guidelines, you will have more protection in case of litigation. Of course, you can also add other programs to your national certification, like the one Chris Owens offers.

The national programs also have yearly conferences where you can meet and greet others who are involved in the same field.

Thanx Mr. Call.. This blog was in reply to an email I received, I thought I'd see what the rest of you fella horse-people felt or had 2 offer.. Kinda opened the "closed meeting".. so to speak! Well, the blog party invite sounds invitin, but since I have 2 behave myself.. I better decline. One Texan is probably one too many as it is!!! No, seriously (or as serious as I can git..) I down-graded my account after I had a lil' "Rockin Rafter B version" of the Texas Chainsaw massacre... It's been a month and everthing's healin really fast and well.. It coulda been sooo much worse, and I'm truly thankful it was just my calf muscle. I think someone upstairs was tryin 2 tell me 2 slow down, and that's what it took for me 2 hear!! But, a girl's gotta do what needs to be done.. ANYWAY... on a lighter note.. thanks for the warm welcome!!! And I look forward to the new friendships!!

Hay Crazy! Nice 2 hear from ya.. My "plans" r pretty simple.. however it turns out!! I'm a nurse and have worked w/ kids that benefit from riding, but have also seen it do wonders with adults w/ anything from depression, debilitating diseases like Pakinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and many others.. But I want it to benefit the family as well.. so many times I've woked in homes of medically fragile kids and the toll it takes on the parents and siblings will keep any persons pride in check!! I'm just a pawn, and I figure if I continue to do my part, everything else will fall into place as it's meant to be. I believe that in relationships as well.. I've seen too many times in my life that when I try to take my own way and make something turn out like I feel it should, it never does. So, call me hopeless romantic, but I am a firm believer in fate. And with that... worry is wasteful and patience is a virtue!! Thanks for the info and kind remarks!! Maybe we'll meet down the trail someday.. I've been known to frequent Colorado from time 2 time.. I was just there in Sept. for my birthday on an elk hunt! Threw my 30's off the mountain and let the 40's begin!!

Hellooo, blueroanchick! Welcome to the funny farm.

I know people who have these types of horse "therapy" programs. If you have not already, may I suggest strongly that you get in touch with the NARHA. The North American Riding for the Handicapped Assn. There are a couple of Organizations who can certify you and guide you in what is legally required if you are seriously going to do this. The safety standards are much higher in this area, as is the insurance.

Some of the organizations have the clients riding horses, while others choose to have them interact only from the ground. You should get certified either way, and if you can, certify your program.

Your farm sounds wonderful! Please tell us more about your plans.

As you might know your posts will not show to us until the next day. Only those with the stars by their name get instant posting. So if we seem like we are ignoring you, well, we really can not see you yet.

Hello from Colorado. Just curious on what your goals are for your clients. To just increase their quality of life or are you thinking more along the lines of a more clinical setting? There is also the "corporate retreat" or personal development option. You can find more info on that at Chris Irwin's website under his EAPD workshop info. All of the above...none of the above? My hat is off to you for pursuing this...the world is in dire need of help and I believe that the horse people are going to be the driving force in changing that.
