Get the book that Leslie Desmond wrote with Bill Dorrance. Riding though Feel I think.
It gives you some basic excercises and training advice for new horse handlers and us oldies..

There is a very fine line between being nervous and being excited. I would say find a trainer, read alot, listen a lot, and get to know your oss!
But beware of 'helpfull' people who are out to make a name for themselves at others' expense. And lastly if it doesnt feel right, Dont do it! Look for other ways. They are out there.
    Best regards from England.
    And Good Luck.

It is always a good idea to pay an experienced horse person to ride your green horse on for you and then to give you lessons weekly and before you know it you will both be old hands!!
Have fun that is always the most important thing to remember.
