Australian horse woman... Romance

Its a funny sport as, the only people around me, are woman, or gay guys!! and its such an different sport from the usual "beach" person that its hard to find a friendship that has similar horse riding interest. I find most guys, or woman of my mature years, are doing the bus trip thing, not for me!!!! so doing things alone is the best way so far, but not always by my choice, as its nice to share a meal, movie, trailride with that someone, but not if its a beach goer, if you know what I mean!
any ideas how to socialise with the ones that like the neddies?

Aww i feel for the poor guys now with a lot of the women thinking most guys who are into horses are gay. Well i got a good laugh but then i started feeling bad for them lmao. I think my only issue is the amount of guys on this site in their early to late 40's after women in their 30's. I am going to start feeling like i'm over the hill soon :-)

It does seem they're a bit of a dying breed...generally it seems a higher proportion of men involved in the western or stock scene are straight compared to those who do dressage and hacking...has anyone found this to be the case?
    (Me, I'm 18, NSW, 6 horses)

    Hi!
I just found this great site- It seems to me that us Aussie Gals on this ought to get organised!!
I'm a Single Mum, I don't own a horse anymore ( sold when I relocated to San Francisco for years -sadly)but I just love to ride- I AM looking for that more special male someone, but would also love to meet more women who are into the Horse scene- I'm rusty and can use all the support/feedback I can get...I know there are more men out there..Lets find 'em!!I havent gotten a decent pic on this yet-will post in the next week..and maybe do the Gold M'ship thing ?!

It is certainly hard to find a single /straight man, let alone one who's interested in horses but then these days I am mostly found at pony club events, with a child or two in attendance. Hopefully on here I will at least get to talk to one??

    hi Jules,
just a hi and to say there are heaps of middle age chaps that ride and get out with there horses. I breed showjumpers/eventer have 2 stallions here of the SCHWANDOR?FLANUER line. But do a little trail riding and there are quiet a few other blokes that come out as well, on our annual mail coach run ,in may we get all ages from 4yrs to 80 yrs .There in carts, gigs and many riders up to 100 at a time and camp out for a week ,its the best time had by all . So dont give up there out there(shame i'm bit young for you, lol).

    Hi Julia
I'm writing this at 11pm while waiting for the results of an ebay auction - I'm bidding for a rug for my big boy.

I had the same experiences as you when I was actively competing. However, since broadening my equine interests and moved away from some of the competitive circles I've discovered there are lots of nice guys who are interested in horses.
Are you working in the equine sphere? or are you a member of any horse related clubs (racing, breeding, hunt, polo etc) These might be worth your while investigating.
    Cheers
    Roisin :)
PS I've just learned I won the auction. My horse will be supersnug in his new weatherbeeta... that's his sire's pic on my profile.
