My fave horse would also have to be a freisan and my goal in life is to breed them with quarter horses and fresians, we already breed paints they are lovely an have an outgoing temperment, but not agressive, but fresians to me are the most myatical of all along with lippizanners
The Australian Stock Horse (ASH) is the only breed to look at if you what TO DO ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!!! They are beautiful, athletic, intelligent and have fantastic temperaments. They are a breed of horse that will try and usually excel. Here is a photo of one my ASH trying his first cross country jump (awesome).
It depends on the horse. I have a Polish Arab who is all heart but I find alot of Arabs to be flighty and stupid. Give me a smart animal with spirit and I am happy. One of the best horses I have come across is my mother's Standardbred. He won't win a beauty contest but that is one horse that has a great personality.
i have to say my dream horse would be a fresian stallion... they're just so gorgeous!!! i just cant afford one. i also like arabian warmbloods, and pure arabs, pure WB's. TB's are ok when you get a nice one, but there are more dumb ones than nice ones.
There is an old saying that goes "There is no bad color for a good horse" and I fully agree. I have an Appaloosa/quarter/Paint/Belgain PMU filly with an unsound hind leg and she is my best friend!!!
I also have a Registered breeding stock Dun paint filly who is just everything to me.
I wouldn't trade them for any horse or any amount of money.
As to favourite breed...it depends on the individual horse.
G'Day, anyone out there heard of the Australian Stock Horse, they are classed as the breed for every need.
The Australian Stock Horse is widely believed to be one of the best walking horses in the world. The horse is ideally suited to all forms of equine sports, as well as trail riding , dressage and show jumping, and to it's original use as a horse to work stock.
Anyone out there own one of these great aussie bred horses?
i love appy's when i showed in eventing, dressage, hunter/jumper, i rode an appy/thoro cross but he was all appy they have the greatest heart and more courage than any other breed i have ever been around (and that is a lot) he gave all in the ring, could be a laugh out of the ring, and the best trail horse i ever had and i have had horses since i was a teen ager ( all appy's) looking for horsey friends ..fuzzyone
I thank you for your words. the apps went to a good home before they even were unloaded at my pastures. A mixed blessing.
Talked to several s/b people and I would be best as a halfway house for them. getting them ready for adoption.
my daughter rescued a 10 year old severely abused POA mare that has major issues but I see the app in her trying to overcome what she has been through.
Hey there Banker,
Good morning! Nova was out of Forrest Skipper and Avon Row, and as you guessed Forrest was a Meadow Skipper baby.
I think i am swaying towards my future in rescuing SB's I have never EVER had a more bombproof horse. Several theraputic riding facilities are now using them because they are not real big and their temperaments are phenominal.
I am so in love with the breed. Today I have a woman coming out who has two horses (appys)she needs help placing as they are two she just cant take care of anymore. We will see what happens. I have to be real picky right now since divorce and my horse funds have been cut by over half. :( But I may be able to rehab and place these guys quick.
So true banker. The perch in the lower pic came to me with COPD. But he is doing great and no signs of naything wrong. My profile pic is my standardbred, nova skipper. I drove to ohio to get him. He has a 100% bombroof temperment and is actually used for a theraputic riding horse. To know he would have ended up on a slaughterhouse floor tears my heart up. To know all the others that are just considered throwaways, especially after doing what they were asked to do so willingly.
My favorite is the one that needs rescued. I now have four recues/adoptees and so love them not because of color, breed etc but because they were throw aways and I had a safehaven to offer them. They needed me and in a way I needed them.
I love the horse who works for me, i dont care about color, gender or how high it is.
Like the horse with strange colors on my profil! Lovely one day, crazy next. The grey one...always work, when he doesnt have his panic attacks,,,
I just love them when they work for me!
